PayPal president David Marcus on payment innovation

The advent of Bluetooth Low Energy, the emergence of NFC Host Card Emulation and the move towards smart watches and wearables are three trends that could transform the retail payments experience, according to PayPal president David Marcus.

Blogging on the PayPal Forward website, Marcus argued that there is a raft of technology now available to improve people’s shopping experiences.

The three aforementioned technologies have been key areas of focus for Marcus in recent months, and he suggested they all have the potential to “change the retail experience as we know it”.

“These are very, very exciting times where we get to redefine how hundreds of millions of people will move to the digital age of money,” he explained.

“I can’t wait to unleash some of these great products and innovations to our customers around the world.”
